NYC FIREHOUSE - ADAPTIVE REUSE

CARIBBEAN CULTURAL CENTER

STUDIO : ODA TEAM FOR CSA GROUP
YEAR : 2008
STATUS : SCHEMATIC DESIGN

PROGRAM :

Adaptive Reuse of this New York Registered Landmark FireHouse to Caribbean Cultural Center explores the concept of “fluid explosion” symbolising the African diaspora with the caribbean community and New York. While conforming to the rigid configuration of the existing building, the new Atrium space that forms the central spine of the cultural center, symbolizing light and illumination of the arts, ecpresses itself discreetly at the roof level in the form of a transparent structure emerging from the red firehouse building.
